on being a dad part 2

Well, the baby girl is about 10 weeks away. R and I finished the nursery (at least all the artsy fartsy cute picture hanging type little birdies flying from the ceiling stuff). I've also been reading some books on labor/delivery/life immediately following birth. It really surprises me how little you have to do to bring a baby home. Seriously...why does learning to drive have so many rules, while taking a baby home involves...ummm....taking a baby home. So while surfing the web, I recently found some simple placards that offer some helpful instruction for those first few months. I've included a few below. I've framed these at my house just in case I get confused on the nursing part...

"Walking with Baby" made me laugh out loud.

I thought a similar thing about bringing the kiddo home. Doesn't take much. A nurse asked us on our departure day, "So do you have a car seat installed?" "Yes." "Ok." Apparently that's it. Just a simple yes or no is all they need, no actual inspection which I thought they'd do as we left the hospital. Nope.

And it was funny to us that we walked into the hospital with all sorts of kid stuff and kid still in belly. Walked out with kid as if they had some sort of decoder ring or a key to the safe. We just have to stay for a day or two then we get to leave with a kid.

I hope it's that easy for you two. top

    these are brilliant

i will have to save these for me as well when we adopt a baby, lest I forget about throwing the child up in the air or giving them alcohol as they watch Survivor

it is going to be fun to watch you and Rach parent - you will both be fantastic parents top

These are hilarious, and I'm glad I finally figured out how to comment on your artsy-stylized blog. I actually do the throwing-the-kid-up-in-the-air thing. My girls love it! top

    Heheheh!! Great stuff.
Both our kids were born with an instruction manual afixed to their butts. It cost a bit more, but was well worth it.

    welcome back.
